Greg Garcia, Chairman

Greg Garcia was educated in Accounting and Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1977.  He used his education in his family’s business of food and trucking business beginning as a bottle washer and rising to plant manager.  In 1981, he married Mary Lou Gendron and together they have three sons: Stephen (UND’07, Director of Religious Education, St. Mary Parish Aspen, CO), Kevin (UND ’09, Army ROTC Scholar), and Michael (UND ’11, Business Administration Major.)

In 1984, he volunteered as a campaign worker in the San Bernardino, CA Mayoral Election which saw the first woman elected to that city’s mayor’s office.  He was invited to join the Mayoral Staff as Project Coordinator where he renewed, developed and directed several programs for the city using volunteers and city staff to accomplish his successful efforts.  He developed the More Attractive Community Program and non-profit Foundation; successfully renewed the Neighborhood Watch Program; established the citywide arbor program; developed the San Bernardino division of the California Conservation Corps, and other important programs which accomplished the goals set by the Mayor.

In 1989, he was appointed Deputy Director of the San Bernardino County’s Economic and Community Development Department.  He was responsible for the financial oversight of the Community Development Block Grant; fund accounting of the department; Liaison with the county’s Tourisms Councils developing good economic development policy; assisted in the county’s Small Business Development Program.

A self-started orange, avocado, and Christmas tree farmer from 1984 through 2005, Greg won acclaim for his water conservation on his farm.

In 1992, Greg and Mary Lou moved to Colorado Springs after a nine month evaluation of seven western states in which to relocate their young family.  He joined Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor, a position he continues to hold.  He has worked in the community as Chairman of St. Mary’s High School, basketball and baseball coach for YMCA, Little League, and other athletic organizations.  He is an active member of his church, Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  He is currently the chairman of El Paso County Republicans.


Dane Nowels, Vice-Chair

Dane Nowels, 2007-2009 Vice-Chair of the El Paso County Republicans, has been a Sales Territory Manager with Ellen Equipment Corporation in Colorado Springs for 14 years. He is also President of the Pikes Peak Firearms Coalition, an NRA Life Member, and an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. He enjoys jeeping and is a motorcycle enthusiast. He holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the Ohio State University and has been a resident of Colorado Springs for 20 years. Past political activity includes grassroots work with special interest organizations and involvement in local, state, and national campaigns.

Dick MacLeod, Secretary

Dick MacLeod served as a GOP Precinct Chair for five years and has been a delegate to several County, Congressional and State Assemblies.  He also worked as a volunteer on several state and national campaigns.  He was Deputy Campaign Manager for the Mark Holtzman for Governor Campaign.

He served 24 years in the US Air Force in positions ranging from Counter-Insurgency in Thailand, to Political Science instructor at the Air Force Academy, Senior Research Fellow at the National Defense University and Policy Analyst for the Secretary of the Air Force. He retired as Chief of Staff, NORAD and Air Force Space Command.  As President of the Space Foundation, he developed the National Space Symposium at the Broadmoor into the pre-eminent space policy conference in the world while also organizing the first United Nations Conference on Space Applications for Developing Nations. 

His business experience includes heading a number of real estate investment partnerships, part ownership of a three-store retail chain and publicity promotion of US and international Space programs.
